IKER Casillas; IDOVEN AND UN unite to cut premature deaths from heart disease by a third by 2030

One of the main goals of the United Nations 2030 agenda for sustainable development is to reduce by one third the number of deaths from non-communicable diseases (including heart disease).

Iker CasillasUN ambassador, together with the artificial intelligence that feeds into IDOVEN are working every day to reduce deaths from non-communicable diseases by a third by 2030 as a sustainable development goal.

"By working with IDOVEN, I want to use this technology to support the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and help meet the goal of reducing premature deaths by a third by 2030". Iker Casillas comments.

To understand the scale of the problem we need to understand the following facts:

  • Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) kill 41 million people each year and account for 71% of all deaths worldwide.
  • Each year, 15 million people between the ages of 30 and 69 die from a NCD; more than 85% of these "premature" deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries.
  • Cardiovascular diseases account for the majority of NCD deaths, 17.9 million people per year. Cancer is the second leading cause of NCD deaths, killing 9.0 million each year.
  • Cardiovascular diseases are the most important cost factor in the global healthcare system with a total annual cost of €770 billion. This is expected to rise to €932 billion by 2030.

With these facts in mind, it is necessary to know how IDOVEN and its services can help meet the UN target of reducing deaths from heart disease by a third.

In order to spread the importance of this message, last week we went to the forum AI for Good where both Iker Casillas (IDOVEN investor) and Manuel Marina Breysee (CEO and founder of IDOVEN) explained how the problem can be tackled on the basis of artificial intelligence and technology.
